78. When one accessed data without permission and copied it, that person stole the data.

You should check into this more thoroughly, the four people involved did download data.

If it wasn't a "sinister" attempt, why did the four each spend about two hours in the system? If Uretsky was just trying to show that the data was vulnerable, he could have done that in five minutes by himself.

If nothing was "stolen" or downloaded, why did I coincidentally begin receiving emails from the Sanders Campaign (who I never contacted before that) at an email address that I only used for political purposes?

Chronology:

The data was hacked on December 16 last year.

The first email I received from Sanders' campaign, via "Democracy for America", was December 17.

The second was December 18 - here is the first half of it:

"The Democratic National Committee just did the unthinkable: Only a few short weeks before Iowa, they've completely shut down the Sanders campaign's access to the DNC's 50 state voter file -- all because of a security error made by a third party vendor.

There is simply no excuse for this. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC know who was responsible for the problem, but they chose to attack the campaign that discovered it rather than hold the vendor responsible. And as a result, they've completely crippled the Sanders campaign's ability to do voter outreach in the run up to the first major vote of the presidential contest.

This is more than a mistake on the part of the DNC -- it is a direct attack on the democratic process. Tell Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC to give access to the voter file back to the Sanders campaign immediately.

The voter file contains contact information about potential Democratic primary voters across the country. Campaigns rely on it to conduct their get-out-the-vote efforts. By taking away access to the voter file, the DNC has crippled the Sanders campaign and its ability to mobilize grassroots activists to identify supporters."

They were locked and loaded with this when they went into the database.
