People will get factual information and because it contradicts what they want to believe, they ignore it and become even more entrenched in their belief.

They resigned because some people were so convinced this awful horrible thing happened, that there needed to be a fall guy. And if you're going to complain about Sanders and his supporters being demonized, you should probably at least acknowledge that they in turn demonized the DNC for the Sanders campaign losing to Clinton.
