2. I would guess that the events in South Carolina could cause an uptick in that stat

A lot of people of faith turn to their church when shit like this happens, even or maybe especially when something like this happens in a church. They will be more resolved than ever to attend their church to show solidarity.

I just wonder how much longer people will beseech a being that never shows up for anything, or anyone, anytime?

People show up. God doesn't. Hey, these people are not God, these people are people.

Some day they will realize they made up their gods, but they just might decide to keep it because they like it so much.
