I have neovascular macular degeneration or 'wet amd' in my left eye, which is by definition abnormal, leaky blood vessels that grow and continue to grow in the eye. This disease untreated causes blindness. I have been receiving injections every few weeks since my diagnosis. This is my take:
1. My treatments are completely painless, as they should be. These injections are considered a 'surgical treatment' and patients are prepared accordingly including numbing medication. The fact that you have ANY pain is unacceptable.
2. Wet amd is a serious eye disease that must be treated. My strongest recommendation to you is to make an appointment with the BEST retina specialist in your area.
3. Don't delay too long and please let us know how it goes. With the correct treatment this disease is manageable and you will keep your eyesight. But, you need a highly respected Retina Specialist to sort out this mess for you. Once you do that, you will be OK.
