I acquired a new Kindle a few weeks ago - a new Fire for a 50% reduction. Kindle does this from time to time on new models, you just have to watch I think I got it for $50

anyway it will fit in my purse but I will not carry it in my purse until I get a cover for it.

I got it because I thought the OLD Fire was dying, and it does not use a Micro for charging. It uses the same plug as our Android phones!! (also: it is pink!) I am very pleased that I went on and got it.

Just hated to lose this one because it did exactly what I needed in a purse sized e reader, without a bunch of other stuff.
