(92,771 posts)I ate soy products and "fake" meat for years before my cancer but had to include the real thing back into my diet once my weight got dangerously low. You don't want that to happen. I was in the hospital for a month and I got nutrients through IVs and shots. My blood stopped clotting and my body wasn't functioning properly. My hair was falling out and doctors who were smiling when they came through the door stopped cold when they looked at me, their smiles wiped from their faces. That said more about my condition than any of their words. I had 6 doctors on my case, including my oncologist, before the month was over. It would not be an exaggeration to say I was dying.
I'll be ever so angry at you if you get to that point! Sad, worried, yes...but still angry.
If you can swallow fried veggies, go for it.
Just do whatever it is you have to do!

Plan menus with calories in mind. Same as when dieting but only the reverse. You want the calories.
