(18,566 posts)Those women I've talked to say otherwise. Maybe they all coincidentally have a balance impairment. My recollection is 7 to 2 against wearing them. One of the two in favor was unable to not walk on her tiptoes due to her continuous wearing of heals. The other 7 females, with whom I have discussed the topic, hate them and won't wear them. There is nothing female about that. I happen to feel a tie of any style looks anywhere between foolish and pompous. I refuse to wear one unless I'm being paid to. I don't own one that I am aware of and haven't worn one in over 10 years. Also, IMHO, they look stupid.
Please, please do not take what you inferred as what I meant. For sure I did not imply a disservice to women. Many folks with all attributes of humanity will take measures to be attractive. My personal preferences should never, either for or against a style, decide what anyone I know should wear. It was my interest just to find out if there were others who also either actively disliked the look of heels or just found them neutral but unappealing. I am warned by my wife from time to time that I need to guard against being disconnected.
I find appealing the saying, "There is no man more free than the one who doesn't give a damn what society thinks of him."
Most people who make choices on style do it based on their own ideas. Please don't feel attacked as I respect everyone's right to make their own choices without consulting me or basing their decisions on my ideas. I do feel that most folks imprint their ideas somewhat unconsciously from advertising and the choices of piers.
