and don't mind the discomfort as much after a while.
They literally deform your feet.
I object to the characterization of anyone who adopts social norms which don't harm others as 'weak minded' or 'foolish'. There is intense social pressure on women to look sexy, and high heels are widely considered the sexiest kind of shoe (as well as the default in many professional settings).

I think they do make women look sexier, but I encourage women not to wear them all the same.
