Men have been portrayed as beasts unable to control their instinctual urges at least since the feminist heyday of Dworkin, MacKinnon, and Morgan and this theme has been repeated over and over to present day. So it's pretty hard to establish an equivalency when one side has been portrayed quite effectively as sub-human for the past 30-40 years.
