My dad loved 1930s stuff. This picture of our gas range doesn't have all that the one he found, because it also had a long flourescent light in the back, built in. We turned it on before going to bed and it lit the kitchen for those late night snacks.
It had a built-in crockpot on the back left side, a griddle in the middle, the two drawers on the bottom, but the one on the right was a broiler drawer. The oven was on the right, with a warming oven (and the crockpot) on the left.
It was all chrome on the top, and had a few more chrome accents than the picture does. It had 6 standing pilot lights on all the time. Natural gas was cheap back then.
I remember him getting up at night to cook snacks that my step-mother didn't think were fit to eat, so she never made them.
Like a pot of pinto beans and some yellow corn bread (no sugar) or some sauerkraut and polish sausage. He cooked the beans and the sauerkraut with a Mirror steamer that scared me half to death.
He also taught me to baste an egg and to make 'S.O.S.' as he called it, that strange entree of dried beef slices, toast and a white sauce. They gave it to them in the service in WW2.
Did they set it up for you?
I'm so glad you got an upgrade, it will be so much easier and I bet it will warm the house, too.

We only got down to 15 below last night, and we might hit a high of 6 above today.
