Cuomo's father turned down the suggestion of a presidential run, leading to some speculation of a family skeleton.

Conservatives in the state constantly say that Cuomo wants a presidential run and that's why he promotes progressive issues so strongly in NY. I have wondered about it myself. But not likely this year since he did not enter the primaries and has his hands very full right now.

My concern for NY right now (besides C-19) is that this is Cuomo's 3rd term. A Tea Party Congressman, Tom Reed, plans to run for governor next time. Reed has been polishing his image with phony "bi-partison" claims of promoting the problem-solving group in Congress. He supported Trump early, votes with Trump policies well over 90% of the time, and is a smooth talker in calling black white and up down. He even got an endorsement in his last election from the liberal Buffalo News, for which I cannot forgive them.

So I selfishly hope Cuomo stays with us to block Reed. But I do believe he would be a great national leader.
