(23,146 posts)After her filibuster in the Texas Senate, she was a rock star. So the Texas Democratic Party started prepping her to run for governor, which turned out to be a horrible mistake. She would have been re-elected to the State Senate if she had not run for governor. Another couple of terms in the State Senate would have put her in a great position to run for Mayor of Ft Worth, or Congress.
Ultimately she moved to Austin, got married and ran for a Congressional District down there. She did not win.
She can still turn out a crowd when she speaks at an event though.
Katie Porter's run for the US Senate race in California is the same thing. She could have stayed in the House for a few more terms and really done some good for us. Instead she entered a race she was unlikely to win and we lost a good Representative. I read this week that Katie has declared she will run for Governor of California. I wish her luck, but Kamala will win if she runs
