In reply to the discussion: Why a Biden-Klobuchar ticket can beat Trump [View all]BlueWI
(1,736 posts)160. Actually
the assumption that the African American electorates trend the same everywhere doomed us in 2016. Detroit and Milwaukee in particular were keys to the margin of victory, and there was clearly an enthusiasm gap among black voters in those cities in 2016 vs. 2012. The same approach that works in South Carolina and Alabama doesn't work the same in the Upper Midwest, where the potential black vote is often younger and more alienated.
I think Amy Klobuchar is an excellent senator, but her support among black voters isn't as strong even in Minnesota. These factors should be weighed in building a ticket.
If I were to vote in a presidential

Minnesota liked both Amy and Joe in the primary, why not keep it in our column

"Leaning" Dem is not "solid blue". Solid Blue is California. Or Massachusetts.

Moderates lost to Trump last time (based on the electoral college vote, the only one that matters)

I watched Amy closely and think she has enough "street fight" to withstand anything Trump could dish

Exactly. Amy is a bit of a street fighter, I think people underestimated and ignored her

Tim Kaine didn't sink Hillary. He didn't help much, but he didn't sink her.

Then Amy could help Joe appeal to people who might drift towards the Orange Doofus.

I've thought about Beto also - if we snagged Texas it's basically over for Pres. Dickhead

ANY ticket can beat Trump - it's in the hands of the voters. Divided we fall.
