I'm always interested in how to remake/reuse/recycle furniture and the technique you mentioned intrigued me. There's a lot of stuff here put on the curb that is still good but needs a little "help" to look good again and it sickens me that people just throw it out. I try to recover the pieces I can and use or donate it to the local charities or friends in need. I just picked a metal garden table set for a friend's granddaughter and I'm going to refinish it for her with about $5 in OOP costs (spray paint cost, everything else I have on hand).
I'd be thrilled if we could share tips with each other when we each have time though I don't know if my knowledge would do you any good as mine is just basic furniture refinishing knowledge at this time. I'm looking for new ways to refinish wood and metal and the technique you mentioned sounds like it could be fun! Are there any YouTube videos of it or a name for it? It sounds similar to decoupage. Im happy to look it up for myself so you don't have to write a book to explain it
