Martin O’Malley may be out of the race, but the Twitterverse hasn’t given up on him yet.
The former Maryland governor made it into the top 10 most retweeted messages during Thursday's Democratic debate, according to a list released by Twitter on Friday.
O’Malley’s tweet calling on Hillary Clinton to release her Wall Street speech transcripts made it to No. 6 on the list.
“Said this in 2012 about @MittRomney's tax returns, I'll say it today: @HillaryClinton should release the Wall Street transcripts #DemDebate,” O’Malley tweeted.
It was retweeted 3,750 times and liked 6,424 times as of Friday afternoon. The message came in response to a heated exchange between Clinton and Bernie Sanders over her refusal to release the transcripts from her paid Wall Street speeches. The secretary of state has said that if everyone releases their transcripts, including Republicans, she'll think about releasing her own.
The big Twitter winner of the debate night, however, was Sanders. A tweet from the Vermont senator just before the debate kicked off that said “Public colleges and universities tuition free? Damn right” got 6,326 retweets and 11,901 likes.
