It a lot easier to deal with my diabeties is following a keto diet. I highly suggest you look into it and cut as many carbs as you safely can out of your food intake. Experiment with non sugar sweeteners.
I use stevia as my sweet source. But there are tons of kinds and mixtures out there.
Another recommend is Sola brand low carb bread and Holista low glycemic pasta.

Also there is berberine and fenugreek they have anti diabetic properties.
Don't give up
It gets easier over time.
