Immerse yourself in the Vietnam War (Hollywood version).
Oliver Stone's "Platoon." Most vets said this was real close to Viet Nam experience. But it is way more than that.
Then, travel to the heart of darkness with Coppola's "Apocalypse Now." His wife's documentary about making the movie won an Oscar!
Even deeper into the surreal of course is Cimino's "The Deer Hunter."
And top it all off with Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket."
Each of these movies will stick in your head forever.
