At best this sounds like some revisionist mindset some old people go through. Sort of like 60 year olds speaking against an abortion they once had, or made a girlfriend go through;

but put them back in their younger bodies, they'd do the same thing.

And the public won't be happy about having a beloved classic spoiled.
