Some movies ought to remain the single definitive incarnation of the story that they've told. Do we need a new Van Gogh's Starry Night? Do we need a new Moby Dick (the novel)?
When something is a classic in its entirety, it ought to remain standing on its own in all its unique wholeness, and not be messed with.
