6. Yes, this is an excellent post. The kind of OP that we used to see a lot more of on DU during the

Bush years.

So much corruption it's hard to know where to begin.

I wonder if those who were actually prosecuted did something to anger the real rulers and ended up without the kind of protections we've seen for criminals like Cheney and Bush. Eg, the FISA Bill Amendment which totally covered for them just when people thought they were finally going to be held accountable. Imagine being able to get Congress to pass a bill that changed the law you broke and made it legal, going back to before you broke it? What they did was so much worse than what Ney did eg. Yet he ended up in jail while no one has laid a finger on them.

And Tom Delay, managed not to go to jail after being convicted and now has had his conviction overturned. He has some guardian angels also it seems.

And then look what was allowed to happen to Don Siegelman, he was completely railroaded by Karl Rove and his gang of crooks and Congress turned a blind eye to that.

So I guess considering all of this it does seem like a coup has taken place. Still they can't silence everyone and maybe one day the sheer number of people willing to risk whatever it takes might just become more than they can handle. Whistle Blowers are getting smarter, like Snowden, about trusting the system as some of the earlier ones did. Seeing the persecution of Whistle Blowers over the past decade has made it fairly clear that no one should trust the Corporate Media or this Government.
