Everyone is a law abiding citizen until they're not, doesn't matter what the crime is.
This teacher, however, will probably never teach again with this violation on his criminal record and his teaching license, which is probably going to be revoked. How much more punishment is required?

As far as more stringent regulations, I'm open to suggestions, things like universal background checks for EVERY firearms purchase, maybe something like Illinois has, a Firearms Owner Identification card, (FOID).
I would also be open to discussing registration as long as protections were put in place restricting the govt. from abusing it.

As always, the devil's in the details.
