1. Have you thought of looking in St Joseph?

We lived there from 1988-94 and it wasn't that far to the area you're looking now. Had a cool old downtown area that has probably been revitalized in the last 30 years. It's not KC, but if you could find something month to month or for 6 mos, would give you a chance to get on a wait list for something closer to KC.
