2016 Postmortem
In reply to the discussion: The Sexism this Cycle just about killed my Brain [View all]ehrnst
(32,640 posts)92. When they said things like "it's not enough to vote for her JUST because she's a woman"
which implied that was a huge thing going on among Hillary supporters, and you tried to point out to them how sexist that was, they would respond with "Well, I would totally vote for Liz Warren, so that means I am in no way being sexist."
Then when Liz endorsed Hillary, the knives came out so fast....
And all of the "Well, Hillary said that she was A PROUD GOLDWATER GIRL,so what kind of progressive could she be?" Then when you pointed out that their Canadian girlfriend, and the woman blessed by Bernie's approval Liz Warren was a registered Republican until 1996, you heard crickets. Then, "Well Hillary is FLAWED! You think she's PERFECT!!"
No cognitive dissonance there. No lack of logic there.

Unfortunately, with the way the election ended up, it will probably get even worse.
