(442 posts)The democratic powers that be have completely lost their ability to read the wants of the American people. In 2008, senator Barack Obama was swept into office because of his message of "change" and most of middle America has been waiting for that change (which for many of them came in very small increments or not at all) ever since. The primaries of both parties should have taught both major parties what the people wanted...change from the status quo. The republican party listened and put forth a reality tv star that promised to bring back their jobs and put a stop to our horrendous trade policies that have cost so many jobs. By contrast, the democratic party tipped the scales for the most status quo candidate that we have ever had. She represents, for much of middle America, the antithesis of trump (and not in the good way that most of us know she is)...her husband signed nafta during his presidency and, whether she likes it or not, she's on record as pushing for the trans pacific partnership and other trade deals like it. This was a bread box kind of election year and we blew it! To quote James Carville, "It's the economy stupid!"
