But the "free college" would be paid for by a tax placed back on trade transactions... Basically, wall St would be helping to fund it. Plus, I believe we spend $60 billion/ yr on dealing with various grants and loan programs, getting rid of the middle man bankers would basically pay for college.

And why not? Y'all freaking laugh, but the rest of the world we compete with for global jobs, do send their young one's to higher education and training programs for free or for very low costs. How do you expect to get our best and brightest put front and with a chance at the next "break throughs". And with the limited job choices and lack of pay at many jobs, paying huge sums of debt until you are 40 or 50, never owning a home, not able to receive much of a reprieve in the event of not finding a decent paying job or losing it in another bust cycle the govt encourages, they are stuck.

So, keep laughing, but prioritizing payment of early childhood education/ development and on the other end higher education/ vocational training, is something that we ought to receive as an ingrained right for living and being the wealthiest, most productive country.
