and I can understand the sentiment but I think humans are a bit more complicated than your philosophy allows. You know, the evangelicals say the same thing, "I don't hate the person, I just hate what they do". That's about as disingenuous as one can get; the person is what they do, what they do is the person, therefore they hate as a passive aggressive act. Jihadists have a more psychopathic bent saying something similar but it's more of a dismissal of one's humanity admitting you to hell at Allah's command which alleviates resposibility.
I don't think we can dismiss hundreds of thousands of years of evolution. I tend to think we humans need to recognize all our emotions and understand them. To dwell on any one emotion is just as unhealthy as dismissing one. To dwell on hate to the exclusion of empathy is certainly not condusive to a balanced understanding of reality, but to dismiss it is to fall into the trap of denial which seems to permeate society now.
