5. Does anyone remember why the "new world" was opened up?

It was by people fleeing from societies where one religion/morality was imposed on everyone, including on those who believed otherwise. They fled to find a place where they could live and believe as they chose.

Missionaries try to impose a belief on others, whether those others want it or not. In this case there was violation of national and international law in order to fulfill that mission.

If you have a religious belief, good for you. Keep it to yourself.
