2. I would love a return to a moderately respectful press

that would leave personal life including religion out of it and write about people running for office in terms of qualification and policy. There's plenty to vilify or laud in both those areas depending on the editorial viewpoint of the paper or broadcast medium.

That doesn't sell tabloids and tabloids are all we have left.
