Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the methods and achievements of science should be protected for use by those who accept the scientific method.

Whereas science is a fundamental method of mankind in gaining knowledge and

Whereas the Framers intended that the First Amendment of the Constitution, in prohibiting the establishment of religion, would not allow religious beliefs to trump rational thought and mathematics: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the House of Representatives—

(1) recognizes the importance of the methods and achievements of science;

(2) strongly disapproves of attempts to ban or water down references to scientific theories in school-books; and

(3) expresses support for the use of these methods and achievements for the betterment of mankind.
