That describes pretty much every religion, substituting your chosen book, of course. When the books include both love your neighbor,and kill your neighbor then selective interpretation is more for what you want your flock to do at any given moment. If your religion is truly about love and compassion, then why haven't you removed the bits about hatred? I can't trust any religion that still includes all that.
