9. It always blows my mind when Europeans speak so plainly about their atheism.

I remember having "the talk" with my Scots/English cousin, driving
through the countryside, when I sheepishly admitted that I was an
atheist.

He baldly told me that he had ALWAYS been an atheist, and that almost
everyone in the family had been unchurched for as long as he knew!
What an EYE-OPENER! My father was an atheist, but I had thought he
was an outlier!

I since discovered that up to 60% of Scots consider themselves "no religion".
