that the original countries want returned to them, the marble statues looted by Lord Elgin only the best known example.

The US has also looted its share, although much was also purchased, usually from other looters of antiquities.

With today's technologies, very precise copies of these items can be made and the originals returned to their rightful owners. Some, like the Benin bronzes, have such deep cultural significance that there should be no controversy at all. Just find a way to send the originals back ASAP.
