3. Years ago when I was teaching I could ride my bike to school in less time than it took to drive.

After a few close encounters with inattentive drivers I decided I'd rather live than save time or energy and joined the stop-and-go automobile parade every morning.

We ought to be rebuilding our cities so that commuting by bicycle is safe and car ownership is unnecessary.
