I'm going to have to do some reading. I know so very little about Buddhism and the idea of Right Speech is intriguing. It's also an excellent concept to have for governing one's interaction with people. It may not help with the stubborn (as I'm sure you're well aware living in East Texas) but all you can do is try, and hope they learn by osmosis

You would think they would have better things to do than 'watch' a group they don't believe in.

My fave was one of them insisting that the Creation story in Genesis couldn't be an allegory
