It is "normal" and so are lots of other things. Everyone is different in how they grieve. When my husband died several years ago, I was numb for several weeks. It is your minds way of shielding you from the pain. It is one of those life experiences that you think you know how someone feels until you have been through it yourself.
You will have lots of ups and downs in the next several months. Just remember that it will get better someday and you will be happy again, different, but ok.
