Please don't feel like a complete idiot!!! What is being "done" to you does not define who you are. If boundries were violated and you took action to protect yourself, then you are courageous in my mind. Even if the outcome isn't what you envisioned, please do not consider yourself as an idiot.

I hope the perv doesn't cause you any more harm.
