The first time we were in Paris, we were booked into the Hotel du Louvre -- had a good travel agent. But my wife is not a museum rat (as I am) and her program was to save the Louvre for a rainy day. We did, and it was the last day of our stay. So, of course, that was the day the guards at the Louvre went on strike. Stayed a week at the Hotel du Louvre, never went in the Louvre.

Had to go back to Paris, if only for that.

They had part of it closed off for renovation. On the third level. So there was still plenty to see. ginnyinWI Aug 2016 #2
