I have updated the OP. I mistakenly only included the Free Press CYA story and not the source material itself.

It seems abundantly clear that Te'o was right in the middle of this thing.

I mean, think about it. The story was that he was really right with his girlfriend and that her loss was devastating to him. And now they are saying that he never actually even met the girl, but just developed a relationship over Twitter??? No, I don't think so. He is the perp, not the victim.
