He's just not like the other pros. You could see it on the podium. He was not used to glory. I sure hope it doesn't change him. He'll be offered large sums soon.

In ways I have a lot in common with him. Same physique. I'm a pure climber. It really stuck a chord to see him winning. People told me when I was younger that I should have been a pro cyclist. Many of my friends were. I've kicked some big time butt in my days. There's nothing like coming up against a big powerful cyclist in the hills, and running away on a climb.

What really struck me most about Quintana is his ability to stay with the big guys. He held his own in the time trials.
