Born in poverty, father disabled in an industrial accident meaning he had to help support the family. They couldn't afford the bus for school, so he had to ride an old bike down and back up 10 miles to go to school.

I was glad to see him win yesterday and wind up with the white and the polka dot. He got better every when when everyone else (Froome apart) was completely spent. Growing up at 3000 Meters elevation has its benefits.

We'll be hearing more from him in the coming years.
