by Elizabeth Acevedo. This is a novel written in verse which was different and interesting to me. The novel jumps back and forth between the two main characters, Camino and Yahaira who are sisters who don’t know each other exists. It took me a couple of chapters to get the hang of how the book was structured, but after that, I enjoyed it immensely. It’s a book about loss, grief, forgiveness and love. Love for families that are sometimes cobbled together out of necessity. I particularly liked the cultural references and setting in the Dominican Republic.
