…school in 1973, and became a peds nurse practitioner by 1976. Loved the job for a long time. Switching to electronic medical records took away a lot of the fun, as I was spending more time being a data entry clerk than a clinician. Then add in COVID, and because of COVID people wanting telehealth visits.
I worked until a month shy of turning 70. Had I been able to stick it out an additional 10 weeks, I would have completed 25 years with my final employer, which I once aspired to.
It just wasn’t any fun anymore, and 10 more weeks sounded like 10 years. It was time to go. Except for first time parents and new and young babies, I don’t miss it.
