8. When I was a kid

I used to hide under the bedcovers with a flashlight reading the Unabridged version of Funk and Wagnalls Dictionary. It was HUGE, and I loved it. So much so, I inherited it from my folks and still have it.

Anyway, I finally had to accept I was getting old when I first started running into the problem of not being able to pull a word out of my brain. I've had a lot of other things happen that reminded me I was getting old, but I don't think anything has hit me any harder than this. Words have always been my life; and now, to be so bereft of them when I want or need them at any given moment.
