Welcome to the group
The more the NRA has pushed this whole idea of carrying guns keeps you safe.. the more death by guns to a degree off the chart has happened.. it puts a person in harms way..
You seem to be implying a cause and effect relationship between some actions, advocacy or position which the NRA takes or makes. As I see it, this is an unproven assertion on your part as violent crime has for decades been trending lower not higher.
I am not an advocate of open carry and believe it is to be discouraged among responsible owners.
Not only do you have the average joe citizen armed to the teeth and scared to death of his or her neighbor..but it seems to be just as prevalent in law enforcement..
You imply here that many gun owners take the word of others as to a level of danger and its proximity. Sensible intelligent people will engage with neighbors and their communities in making this assessment.
I would personally encourage everyone to assess their daily routines, living quarters and habit for general safety and decide for themselves on the most effective means for remediation of risks and deficiencies.
Historically the NRA was formed to keep guns used by the military out of the hands of the average citizen, while protecting their 2nd amendment rights.
First, you're referring to the NRA as if it were a monolithic organization. It isn't. The ILA (Institute for Legislative Action) founded in 1975 is the lobbying organization which engages in advocating for or against federal, state and local legislation. I researched the founding of the historic and traditional NRA which has no relation to lobbying nor to restricting military or military style small arms from average civilians. The NRA was founded for the purpose of encouraging marksmanship and safety.
Just as the right tried to co-opt religion for political purposes.. they did the same with guns.
Those with an ax to grind will shine a light on the blade's edge such that it looks dullest, especially if their looking for you to pay for the grinding.
I'm personally against OC in urban and suburban areas. I don't advocate making it illegal.

Respectfully, do you live in fear all the time? Or, do you know who has one even when you

The OP mentioned "open carry," the post I answered said "even concealed scares me, even more..."

That's too bad, somebody should do something about it, besides post angst ridden online posts

Think of it as the electronic equivalent to one of those "Coexist" bumper stickers:

I was on the UT Austin campus Thursday and Friday. Didn't see a single open carry dildo.

Why, if you're upset over police shooting people, are civilians the target of your proposals?

Good to see some gun-control fiction in VistaVision and Technicolor! It's a bright sunny day!

Good point. The NRA 1903 Sporter is a great example. Think the National Matches has/had a NRA tie-in
