What's for Dinner, Sunday., Dec. 10, 2023 [View all]

It's raining here and I'm having fun cooking up this and that:

--trying a new thing with matzoh balls. Adding finely chopped herbs, per the RG's suggestion.

--making chipotle mayo. I am de-seeding a dried chipotle and will run it through my blender.

--continuing to work on my minestrone, which didn't get finished yesterday

--took some German brats out of the slow cooker and am wrapping them in bacon and slowly cooking in a heavy pan to get a nice golden crust. I'll be able to make fast meals with these when I add them to a pita with mayo and some sauerkraut and/or caramelized onion.

--making up a big salad to last a day or two. Also to give to a friend who loves salads but doesn't have all the stuff to put one together.

Might make another cornbread loaf if I have the energy. For dinner tonight, it will be whatever gets finished, probably the minestrone.

--------
Good thing I got in some gardening yesterday because this rain will keep me from being outside the next few days. I weeded and cleared a section of a bed to transplant some celery, which is doing very well in these temps. I also have a large bed cover which is put together but which I have to anchor because it keeps getting blown away.

Also want to add more microgreens: basil, wasabi, beet.
