8. Chili has countless recipes!

The fundamental difference, I’m told, is beans/no beans. My MIL is from Texas but her father was from New Orleans and his influence went into her recipe. Incidentally, even the canned Hormel chili comes with or without beans!

I did discover some of her flavorings: Cumin, chili powder, salt & pepper, cilantro, garlic(!), ground red pepper and Texas Pete hot sauce. I still think there’s at least one more ingredient!
