I like your posts. FWIW I gave you a bunch of hearts years ago when I first returned to DU and I remember your posts (despite chronic attention and memory issues -my only real mental health issues when not harassed).

I guess it kinda spoils the secret part to tell you I gave those to you. And I am not exactly the cool so in case you were hoping it was from Taylor Swift, no.. it was just me ;-/. A middle aged old frump who is a failed scientist. So I hear you.

I wonder what happened to DUers wandering harper, MLF1981..it’s not something I like thinking about when posters who post about poverty drop off the board. You hope their circumstances improved not vice versa.

Back in the day I remember a poster Bobbolink dealing with chronic homelessness that another poster cleita and I tried to help a bit. But that’s such a hard issue and the chronic stress of that lifestyle…

This is really getting to the point where I cannot believe the oligarchs are getting away with this. I live in a part of the world with a lot of poverty though my state which is communist isn’t that bad. I don’t particularly like the communists in power as they seem pretty friendly to overdevelopment, environmental destruction and unsustainable industries. But the state’s history of a somewhat higher literacy and of family planning has made it less of a mess, but it’s still pretty bad. The garbage workers here went on strike but I don’t think they got anything.

And I am wary of rapacious thieving tech anywhere where privacy and intrusion concerns are ignored. Your field (art/music) is one AI is taking its toll on as far as I can tell. I only recently have started realizing that AI was probably a much bigger driver of my own problems than I realized. Performance art is one avenue people are turning to I read on Salon a while back. The journalism industry is itself getting clobbered by Google etc.

Hang in there. I had something else to add, but I can’t recollect at the moment.
