I drank hard until I was 35; I am now 75 and coming up on forty years sobriety.
If Id have kept it up, I wouldnt have seen my children grow up or experienced any of my grandchildren. Periodically while trudging the road of happy destiny in my sobriety, physical and mental bills have come due as a result of my drinking carrier, but I endeavor to shun regrets.

Bingo... I'm 74, never have been a drinker at all but had hepatitis 40 years ago... damage from that caused mine

You have no reason to be ashamed. Your cirrhosis is not caused by alcohol abuse.

There's no shame. We do what we do and we make adjustments later. The liver is amazing in it's ability to fix itself ...

I drank competitively for about 15 years, then regularly for another ten and have no liver problems.
