the 'maintenance'. My husband suffered terribly with UC for many years. A year ago he had his colon removed and had an ileostomy for 4 months. The surgery to reverse the ileostomy was successful and he's doing well. We actually enjoyed our first holiday season in years without him either being in the hospital in the middle of a terrible flare-up OR at home in the middle of a terrible flare up.
