The best I can come up with, is that it was like inception, in that the film itself was personified in the characters--aimless, rambling, incoherent, unresolved; the film itself resembled the characters it was portraying.

If that was the intent, then I can say it was brilliantly done.

And don't even get me started on the doll thing...!
